Shri. Navin B. Chawla, Election Commissioner accompanied by Shri. R. Balakrishnan, Deputy Election Commissioner and Shri. S.K. Mandiratha, Legal Advisor are arriving at Gangtok on 2nd April, 2009. During their visit, a meeting with all recognized political parties will be held at the Conference Hall of Tashiling Secretariat at 1800 hrs on 2nd April, 2009. The Election Commissioner will also be holding a meeting with OS, DGP, CEO, Pr. Secretary, Home, IGP (L&O), all District Collectors, DIG (Range) and District Superintendent of Police on 3rd April, 2009 at Chintan Bhawan at 1100 hrs. to review poll preparedness for General Elections to LOK Sabha and Assembly Election to be held on 30th April, 2009.

After the completion of review meeting with the CS and other officers, the Election Commissioner will brief the press. All representative of electronic/print media are requested to attend the press briefing.

The Notification calling upon the Parliamentary Constituency and all Assembly Constituencies will be issued on 2nd April, 2009.

A help-line web site has been created on which any electors of Sikkim can get their Constituency Name, Sl. No of electors, Polling Station and other relevant details through SMS. Just type EPIC followed by Electoral Photo Identity Card No. and send to 59898 OR 98709-59898. The electors are requested to also visit the CEO website: www.ecosikkim.nic.in, as per information received from Office of the Chief Electoral Officer.

All Hawkers licensees are hereby directed to submit attested copies of their documents for renewal of license within fifteen (15) days of issue of this notice, failing which their license will be cancelled. The hawker licensees of south/west district will submit their documents in the office of the joint secretary (south/west), urban development and housing department at regional administrative centre, karfektar during office hours. The hawker licensees of north/east diatrict will submit their documents in the office of the joint secretary (t/l), urban development department & housing department at Gangtok, during the office hours.
